Taking the Plunge?
I don't even know where to start. My headline sums it up: "A New Beginning." Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." On November 12th, I drove 14 hours to Canon City, Colorado. I have always known that I wanted to be a travel nurse, just didn't think would ever really happen! Everyone asks me "Why?" My Response: "WHY NOT?!" I can't take all the credit for this though. My parents have had a huge influence on my decision. They had planted the seed in my head since before I started nursing school. At this very moment, I am a mixed ball of emotions. I'm excited, nervous, happy, scared as heck, sad and homesick. Deep down inside somewhere, I know that this is the best thing for me. I've never been truly ALONE. EVER. I found me a cute cozy fully furnished apartment on top of an antique store in downtown Canon City. I finally unpacked all of my stuff today and I feel a lot better. I haven't been able to sleep very well being in such a strange place.I crossed a milestone on Saturday night. I went to a restaurant and had dinner alone and went to the movies; alone. I realized that spending time with myself really isn't all that bad. I am hoping this experience will make me stronger and am looking forward to understanding and knowing Sondra on the deepest of all levels. Sunday, I took a two hour drive to Denver to see my Aunt, Uncle & 2 cousins. It is very comforting to know that I do have family not too far away! I've just started Computer Orientation at another facility and start in ICU on Thursday night. I'm using this blog as an outlet, or diary for myself and others to read. I think it will be great to look back and re-live the experience:)
